DIY Synth Workshop
Sunday 26th August
Join us to get ready for our Modular Fest in September by making SNOG synthesizers!
Through the making of your own synthesiser using electronics and conductive materials, participants are encouraged to explore ways to craft with technology and sound.
The workshop is a great introduction to soldering, sound, craft and electronics over the course of this hands-on 3 hour workshop. An intro to soldering is followed by making your own synth circuit and later creating playable cords with threads, yarn, fabric and other found materials. By playing with the two conductive hand-made cords, your body completes the synthesiser circuit. The harder you squeeze, the higher the sound.
By facilitating ways to interact and craft with electronics in music and sound art practices, the hope is to empower and educate more kids and adults to feel confident to use and experiment with technology and music making, through hand craft techniques and electronic textiles.
SNOG, meaning 'sound, no gender' is an artistic and technological exploration focusing on participation and gender-inclusive design.
All you will need is your hands and we will provide you with everything else!
Great for ages 8 and above.
Workshop in English (German spoken by assistants).
