The great multi-instrumentalist Freestylin' Violin Roland Satterwhite will tour Switzerland for a series of intimate concerts. Roland is well-known for his incredible sense of Improvisation, his deep voice and amazing skills on the violin and plucked viola. He has asked Zurich-based percussionist David Stauffacher to accompany and add a new rhythmic dimension to the Roland’s original material, best described as blues crossed with folk music and west african-inspired grooves.
In addition, Roland has asked guitarist Christophe Bersier to join the duo on some of the material.
Roland met Christophe in Kaffee Burger in Berlin in 2009. Since then the two have collaborated in numerous bands, but most crucially in Konjaleo (konjaleo.com), a Flamenco Fusion band which incorporates the deep traditions of flamenco with other styles including classical Indian music, and more popular Latin American songs.
Roland Satterwhite (Freestylin’ Violin) has toured internationally and played with musicians as diverse as Albita (Cuba) Marta Gomez (Spain) Marta Topferova (Czechia) Agujetas Chico (Spain) Django Lassi (Germany). He was a featured solo artist at TEDx Hamburg, and has recently founded a new trio, Tolyqyn, which plays his original bluesy trance music with poly-rhythmic and hypnotizing odd meter grooves.
David Stauffacher is an international percussionist based in Zürich. He has played in numerous project like: lovebugs, the voice of Switzerland Band, Lariba, swiss jazz Orchestra and many others. He began to play drums a the age of 9. During his trips to Cuba, Brasil, spain and Senegal made his musicality rich and versatile. Working already as a professional musician he finished his Diploma at the Zürich Jazz School in 2005. More on davidstauffacher.ch
Christophe Bersier is a flamenco guitar player based in Berlin. Constantly traveling back and forth to Spain for inspiring musical exchanges with the andalucian flamenco scene he learned from guitar maestros such as Gerardo Nunez, Tomatito and Anton Jimenez. Christophe investigated many other music genres like tango, gypsy jazz, pop and jazz. He shared the stage with international artists like among others Raquel Villegas Gomez, Antonio Sanchez and Jorge Pardo (Former members of paco de lucia's Sextett), Apratim Majumdar and Amit Chatterjee.
